Jojo and Zoe's Place

ABOUT US

Hi, my name is Joanna, or "Jojo" for short. I started making soap because my skin is so sensitive I was having to buy special soap through high end companies. I was paying $12.00 for one bar of soap, and even then my skin was still itchy, dry, and irritated.

I then went wine tasting with my adult daughter in Temecula, Ca and came across a small shop selling olive oil and handmade soap. I bought one hoping that it would work at least as well as the current soap I was using, and to my surprise it worked better! This was my first introduction to natural, chemical free soap. I had finally found the answer to my skin problems. Even though these bars of soap were better for my skin, they were still expensive and hard to find so I knew I needed to do something more.

I started researching soapmaking, and spent endless hours learning all that I could in order to make soap for myself. My rescue dog Zoe was with me every step of the way. My first batch of soap was made on April 26, 2016. I remember feeling scared and exhilarated at the same time, mixing science with art, and creating my very own natural soap. It was a success, and I was hooked. From that point on I couldn't stop. There were weeks were I would make soap almost every day of the week, always trying to perfect my technique and recipes. Before I knew it, Jojo and Zoe's Place was born!

I use only top quality ingredients from highly reputable soap ingredient suppliers. I get 99% of my ingredients from Brambleberry because: they stand behind their products, they only sell animal cruelty free items, and they have been around a long time with a great standing in the community. I also believe in only using vegetable based oils and butters, which make my soaps truly animal cruelty free. My soaps and body butters have skin loving oils like olive oil, coconut oil, palm oil (that's harvested from a sustainable source so it's not harming the environment), rice bran oil, castor oil, and sweet almond oil. In some soaps I use butters like shea butter, avocado butter, and mango butter, all super moisturizing for your skin and great for your hair too. And I add things like tussah silk fiber (mine is cruelty free because it's collected from the cocoons after the silk worms have emerged) for added silkiness to the soap, and sodium lactate (salt) which creates a harder and longer lasting bar of soap.

I truly believe in sharing the goodness of a chemical free soap with as many people as I can, which is why my cost is lower than some others, while my soap bars are bigger. I believe that God gave me this talent and ability to share with others and not just use it for myself. So try my soap, and other items...Your skin will thank you for it! (Just ask Zoe, she uses my soap too and LOVES it!)
